Chrome Moly Pipe

Chrome Moly Pipe is a naming of chromium molybdenum alloy pipes. They contain chromium and molybdenum in their composition along with other elements as well. The combination of these two elements provides the Chromoly Tubing very high corrosion resistance. They are used in high corrosive environments. The Chromoly Pipe is cost effective and has a high tensile strength. They can perform well under high temperatures with excellent corrosion resistance. The electric resistance welded Chrome Moly Steel ERW Pipe is easy to weld with and has a high strength compared to the seamless ones. The Chrome Moly Steel Pipes can be produced under fully annealed or isothermal annealed conditions depending on the grades and classes.

There are Chrome Molybdenum Steel Pipes types that could be normalized, quenched, tempered or more than one of these procedures applied. The grades differ and the mechanical properties differ as well. Each grade has a different chemical composition and that corresponds to the mechanical properties. The different grades also govern the dimensions and wall thicknesses of the pipes. The 1 1/4 Cr 1/2 Mo Pipe is an example of different classes with different diameters. The benefits of Chrome Piping are mainly the cost effectiveness in a long run, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and the high tensile strength. The applications range greatly but include power plant, petro chemical plants, oil fields, oil and gas industries and refineries. They are also used to transport hot fluids from one location to the other. The chromium content is sometimes denoted by a number in the naming of these grades. The 12 Chrome Pipes has chromium content of 12% its composition and a 13 Chrome Pipes has 13% chromium in its composition. The difference in the content will be matched by the addition of other elements into the composition.
